 British Virgin Islands – Off the Beaten Path…

Although there are no direct flights from the US into BVI, couples seeking seclusion and privacy agree it is well worth the effort. It is the perfect location for the barefoot beach wedding and a haven for those who are looking for a natural treasure, not glitz and glam.

The British Virgin Islands include the main island of Tortola and Virgin Gorda as well as many smaller islands – 60 in all.  Some of the best sailing, diving, snorkeling and fishing is to be discovered here, in this jewel of the Caribbean.

• Weather:  The weather is humid and subtropical, with consistent year round temperatures. Average daytime highs are in the mid to high 80’s and average lows in the mid 70’s.  November is the wettest month. 

 
Marriage Requirements

You are required to be in BVI for three days before you can be married but you can apply for you license the day you arrive.  Application is made at the Attorney General’s office in Tortola.  You will need a passport, original copies of divorce decrees or death certificate if previously married as documentation.  Two witnesses must be present as you sign your marriage license application and you will also need two witnesses at the ceremony.  (They do not have to be the same witnesses). Blood tests are not required.
