From the Panhandle to Key West, Florida offers a plethora of perfect locations for a destination wedding. It has long been a great place for a romantic getaway, but now is becoming one of the most popular destinations for a wedding away from home.  With so many fun things to see and do, you can easily plan a week or weekend and make it a fun-filled, action-packed time for you and your guests.

Skim the everglades, bask under the sun on one of Florida’s white beaches,  go visit with Mickey & Minnie in Orlando or play a round (or two or three) of golf on one of their top ranked courses.  It is a great place to say “I Do” with your family and friends.

Quick Facts

  • Time Zone:  Eastern Standard Time
  • Airport:  There are approximately 14 international and many regional airports in Florida.
  • Weather:   Florida is nicknamed “The Sunshine State” because of its great climate.  Winters are mild to cool, and summers can be warm and humid. The weather is affected by the proximity to the coast.  Hurricane season is from June 1st to November 30th.

Marriage Requirements

In order to be married in the state of Florida, it is first necessary to apply for a marriage license by sending in identification, birth certificates, and other official documents to your preferred city's marriage bureau.  The bride and groom must both be present during the application process.  The marriage license is valid in Florida for 60 days and there is no waiting period for non-Florida residents.  The marriage license must be signed by a justice of the peace or religious clergyman in order to be official. There is no blood test requirement.  If you have had a previous marriage, a proof of divorce or a certified copy of a death certificate must be presented
