Marriage Requirements
There is no waiting period to get married in Montana and obtaining a marriage certificate is as easy as paying the $53.00 fee. Bring a copy of your birth certificate and if you’ve been divorced, bring a certified copy of the divorce decree. One issued, the marriage license must be used within 180 days or it will expire. You may apply for a marriage license through the Department of Health and Human Services. You must return the marriage certificate to the clerk of the district court within 30 days of the wedding.
