Who wouldn’t want to be married in the Land of Enchantment?  New Mexico may not be the first place thought of when considering a destination wedding, but it should be on the list for any couple looking for a unique setting with old world Spanish charm, magnificent panoramic views and picture perfect  weather.

Your perfect get-away wedding can take place in a grand ballroom or under the blue sky in an outdoor courtyard surrounded by fresh flowers.  The range of venues is endless, and the resources to plan your wedding are abundant and talented as well.  New Mexico is also diverse in the unique “things to do” category with everything ranging from balloon festivals, opera outdoor concerts, white water rafting, western rodeos and ghost towns to tours where you might spot a UFO.

Quick Facts

  • Time Zone:  Mountain Time Zone
  • Airports:  Las Cruces International Airport, Albuquerque International Sunport
  • Weather:   Every part of New Mexico receives at least 70 percent sunshine year-round and very low humidity.  The climate varies considerably from one place to the next but you will find that the elevation determines the temperature, with higher elevations being cooler. Summertime thunderstorms bring most of moisture.

Marriage Requirements

New Mexico is one of the easiest places to be married with no waiting periods, residency requirements, blood tests or physical exams required.  Once issued, your marriage license does not expire. If you have been previously married you will need to provide the date of divorce or date of spouse's death.  You may need to provide your birth certificate as proof of age.

You may apply for a marriage license at the NM county clerk office where you plan to be married. These offices are usually located in the county probate court or circuit court.
