A wedding with the vibrant colors of autumn as your backdrop, in a charming New England inn, along the banks of beautiful Lake Champlain or on a snowy mountaintop….Vermont offers a beautiful wedding venue for every season.  It also offers an abundance of activities for your family and friends to enjoy as part of your destination wedding trip.

Vermont is a place where you can find refuge from the busy pace of life, but also has resources galore for planning a wedding.  You have the choice of resorts with every amenity to quaint country inns and bed and breakfasts.  Whether you sit by a cozy fire or explore the many outdoor activities including top not skiing, Vermont will not disappoint.

Quick Facts

  • Time Zone:  Eastern
  • Airport:  Burlington International Airport and many regional airports
  • Weather: Vermont enjoys four seasons with daytime summer temperatures averaging in the mid-70s and in the low 20's during winter. Annual rainfall is approximately 36 inch with an average of 100 inches to more than 250 inches of snow falls during the winter, depending on elevation.

Marriage Requirements

You do not have to be a resident of Vermont to be married in the state.  You will need to apply for your marriage license within the county in which you will be married.  You will need to present a drivers license or certified copy of your birth certificate and know your mother’s maiden names and the states where your parents were born.  If either of the couple were previously married a certified copy of the divorce decree or death certificate is required.
