Shoes Perfect for Destination WeddingsHave you been scouring the earth to find shoes perfect for your destination wedding? We know it's hard, but here's some information that may help:
Category: Shoes & Accessories The Perfect Pair: Shoes that Fit Your Dress, Style and Feet
By: Kelli M. Donley
You are wearing a ball gown, but your groom is 2 inches shorter than you. Those peek-a-boo heels you’ve dreamed about? While they fit they dress, they don’t fit your photos. You cannot tower over Mr. Right. (Even Tom Cruise was suddenly taller in his recent wedding photos. Lifts? PhotoShop? Who knows!) Maybe your shoe anxiety is not weighing heavily on your feet, but of the many you’ve asked to stand in your bridal party. You found the right bridesmaid dresses, but ay! What if Sarah wears those awful gold sandals? What if Jessica sneaks in her favorite Chuck Taylor’s? Your wedding is not the time for your friends to express themselves fashionably.
Have no fear – the perfect pair of wedding shoes is here. In fact, they may just be a click away. Eileen Lewis, director of fashion strategy for Zappos.com says there are styles available online for brides with many tastes in style. She has several favorites, including a pair of Vera Wang white platforms, at a cool $488, that she’d wear down the aisle if marrying tomorrow. She says the benefits of buying shoes online include free shipping and convenience. “We have live operators to answer questions 365 days a year 24/7,” she says. “Brides can sort by color, price, and popularity.”
What to do for the bride who just wants all her bridesmaids to wear the same shoe, but doesn’t have the time to be collecting shoe sizes or addresses? “We have gift certificates,” she says. And if the shoe doesn’t fit, that free shipping works both ways and the company has a 365-day return policy.
Destination I Do staff is particularly fond of wedge heels and their recent stylish comeback. They offer the fashion edge of heels, make you feel a bit taller and sexier, but give you the support you won’t find in stilettos when prancing down the aisle in your beautiful gown. Other trends we find dearly beloved are sporting blue shoes under your white gown to incorporation the tried and true “something old, something new” tradition. If your groom is shorter, ask him what makes him comfortable. Perhaps he doesn’t want to be staring up at you during the ceremony. Then again, that might be exactly what he likes and a day of heel shopping is in order!
If you are marrying beach-side, barefoot can be fun, but thongs will be more comfortable. If you are wedding in formal attire, don’t forget to pull out a piece of sandpaper and give your shoes (and your groom’s too) a bit of a rub on the soles before your first dance. Otherwise you may end up in a funniest home videos contest. And when in doubt, if there is one day in your life you should wear Manolo’s, it’s your wedding day. You’ll never regret it, no matter how much they pinch your toes.
With a bit of hunting and consideration, you’ll find the shoes that fit like magical glass slippers – keeping your feet stylish and comfortable for your wedding day!
