Destination I Do Weddings

Say "I do" in St. Lucia

By: Katy Hartness

It appears that St. Lucia delights everyone. Whether seeking a girlfriend getaway, a wedding destination, or a fun-in-the-sun honeymoon, St. Lucia tops the charts for an amazing get-out-of-town playground. Couples from Paris to L.A. flock to this Caribbean island for its romantic and sensory appeal, while girlfriends come to bask in the sun. Spending a little time here encourages vacationers to relax, renew and explore the bountiful treats St. Lucia has to offer.

For the girlfriend getaway, there are many fun activities to take part in. At Cotton Bay, you can go horseback riding along the expansive sandy beach while Pigeon Island National Park offers fascinating ruins to explore. Also, the snorkeling along the edge of Soufriere is a must! Tropical fish glow brightly below the sparkling blue, peeking in and out of coral reefs. From taking the catamaran around the island’s coast to imbibing at the local fish fry in Anse La Raye, everyone finds that it’s easy to indulge the senses here.

Regarding accommodations, Coco Palm Resort is a prime experience. It’s charming, to say the least, and a surprisingly affordable nugget of gold in the heart of Rodney Bay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff is extremely accommodating. Ask for a swim-up room on the first floor, as morning dips are especially exhilarating, right from your bedroom.

Coco Palms also offers an on-site specialty restaurant aptly named, Ti Bananne—since bananas heavily flank the island. This famed restaurant massages the palate with extraordinary French Caribbean cuisine, and an al fresco ambiance invites a refreshing breeze to accompany each meal served. From Cajun pork tenderloin to sautéed ginger shrimp, each bite is a smile.

Needless to say, in St. Lucia, everything is delightful!
